CAN YOU BE SUEDE?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014

Morning Style Merchants. On deadline day, so this is a post-crastination, Roger? Did business shoes in The How To Spenny on Friday (clickage), and this is one of the star players. Santoni’s reindeer suede laces ups (clicky) are super light and very flexible (£365).

Santoni’s reindeer suede lace ups.

Not a mad lace up suede shoe protagonist but these and a couple of other have got me right at it, Italian style. They can’t get enough with their navy, si? Other strong ‘ens include Corthays Bucys and Spencer Harts new shoe roster that boasts a few killer suede numbers. Just discovered that, stay locked on, more later, under the witty title Brown Knows. Hilare, no? Not gonna put a video by Suede up btw. That, would be fucking awful.

Stubbs out & under it.

SLOANE RANGE RECCIE

Tuesday, April 29th, 2014

Morning Style Mongers. Saturday went to visit Gucci to investigate Lapo’s Wardrobe range up close and personal, with my pal Brine and his whippet. Very much liked the look and feel of the ‘fit’ collection that one tries on in the Sloane Street shop. It’s a double spenny way to do made-to-measure, but its aimed at the jet set apparently, and they dont give a monkeys, right? This suit felt great on, looked good, and was £3k MTM.

G-Unit- David Byrne in Lapo’s G-Stripe Double Breasted.

The stripe is made of Gs, which isnt for everyone, but the colour balance of the look is spot on, non? Big old sweeping lapels in the Italian Alpha Classic moda. Must be his Grandfathers influence there. More G’s in the baste stitch on the vent, reverse on other side. Rather like that detail. Not seen before. If youre not a G man, there’s eighty fabrics offered for tailoring, from the five shops globally that do the service. Its a good taste maker this for Gucci, even if not a big turn over. Maybe its a bigger earner too?

Baste. How low can you go? Nothing but a G thing baby.

Been banging on about the Lapo’s Wardrobe capsule, and realise its been out for a year, but think is rather good looking and well style/concealed. More wearable for old fellas like me than mainline collection by a long way. Lux with a vintage Guc’ accent.  Where do I sign? Glenn check jackets also good, and funnel neck cashmere cardy jackets with leather buttons extremely fanciable. Brine and I laughed heartily at the Croc-snaffles with sheepskin lined in the Nan fur style, see end.

Before Gucci on Sloane, acquainted self further with Corthay on Motcombe Street round the corner. Featured their suede Bucy shoe in The How To Spenny It on friday (clickmans). More of these fellas soon. Feeling their flow, but had to stick these in now as thought would go rather well with DB ‘G-Stripe’ suit.

Favourite Corthays were these gorgeous looking two tone Wilfreds (click).

Talking of HTSI, am on bleedin’ deadline again..so simply must dash. Mr.Brine below is a vintage Gucci protagonist btw, from back in the day when there was a Gucci snaffle carousel display the loafes upstairs in the fusty Bond Street shop. A far cry, now we take his dog in their and receive a nice welcome. Like that style. Now they’re doing pinstripe DB tailoring in manner of grand Sav’ Row tailor along side turquoise crocodile brief cases. Something to think about. Logo/motif animal reversal style project: Next week we take a pony in Trussardi and see how that goes down.

Whippet up and start again.

Orange Juice boys looking surprising Gucci SS14 mainline in the Regent Street looks if you watch the video. Sloane or Regent-Which one are you?

Nan snaffles.

URBAN COTTAGE CABLE

Sunday, April 27th, 2014

Morning Style Sockets. Might start writing the wrong bit of copy with wrong images in a sort of Nick Roeg style fragmentation thing. Might not. Feel like writing bout pashmina/wife beater vest/trackie combos, as they’re so, so import’ right now, but am getting well behind. Went on luxe-fact finding  mission with old Pal Brine in Knightsbridge yest’. Loads to reveal. Yet, this needs dealing with, first. Totes dig Urban Cottage Industries, as I’ve mentioned. Their new speaker cable’s dead good, is being tested now by people at The How To Spenny It as not my remit, but the iPhone USB cables are (click). Like em? I do.

Going for the vintage flex.

Obviously they’re a light hearted thing. Vintage technology accessory is tongue in zi cheek, right? Still really like ’em though. What to you reckon? Livens the i-Vista up for a spell, no? These aren’t a high tensile, high performance bit of tech’. Far from it, they’re a bit style amusement/pleasure. Have installed burgundy one for perpetual desk use as suits vintage Danish rosewood, Smythsons leather bound diary and notebooks, Berluti coasters & fountain pens far better than the straight white options, no?

Deadline extension.

One the excellent elements of Urban Cottage Industries is their packaging. Everything comes neatfully, earnestly packed in brown paper and cardboard. Its so gratifying receiving and opening the stuff. Love it. Keep it up you lot.

Two pack.

Comes with ‘box & papers’, as the say down Hattons.

Also loved what Lapo’s lux-capsule collection with Frida btw. Know what chatting ’bout? No. You will.

Stubbs out.

PS. Why Bela Lugosi? More cable connections you see. Was getting chatted about on Twitter. Consequently actually reconnected my Revolver turntable (fiddly) in order to play the vinyl. Couldnt find the vinyl. Oh Bel-la…Knew he hadnt been well, but..

BUSINESS CLASS

Friday, April 25th, 2014

Afternoon Footwear Fundamentalists. Business shoes by The Sharpener in The How To Spend It today. Here’s one Alessandro Berluti made early. A Berluti ‘Alessandro’, and it’s not pictured in the piece, so here it is.

I actually want to write about my new look, ‘Nomadic Luxury Scally’, but my heart’s not in it. You won’t be surprised to find it involves a massive Pashmina. Again. Worn like a shroud. Shrouds are the new ‘Mankets’. I’ve got some love blackened nickel shrouds for my rads. But the rad man has blown me out. What a blow. Woah.

PS. Business Class is a great title, no? Gonna milk it.

WRAPPERS DELIGHTFUL

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014

Morning Style Merchants. Hope all double well. I did West-to-East coast action over the break in The Aero, sleeping on sofas and in bunk beds. Perhaps the feel of the Nomad has got me bang into my latest accessory passion. A delightful natural ivory coloured, gloriously textured Anderson&Sheppard Pashmina from the Habber’ (click). It is massive, like a blanket. Been wearing it in the Nomadic casual style, teamed with old C.P.Company Mille Miglia of similar natural hue and 2005 Belstaff tweed/rabbit fur collar number. Sort of ‘Luvvy/Explorer on Sunday brunch’. Sort of.

Its an amazing thing to be tossing over shoulders and generally being theatrical in, yet has a certain rugged honesty. Even the Cockneys in Whitstable didn’t mock it/me half as much as expected. It has been reaping stubble/fluff havoc however. No way round it though, so more and more am embracing the luxe-fluff-beard look. Stuff floats of in little lumps down the Lido. What can I say or do though, this is how am feeling? Also had nice sleep in Haggerston park under it. Luxe-tramp-useful accessory pivot.
