CAR SHOW

Was trying to write about shoes, but had the sparks round to look at the hall lighting scene. Which is just fine. Not these shoes mind, but they are worth looking at. They’re by Car Shoe, AW12. Think Car Shoe has sneaked ahead of Tod’s on the creative driving shoe verve for a season. Tod’s have done other nice stuff,  but the Gommino remains static. This shoe is in ‘Bright’ calf. A bit like cordovan, but not. Means is dead supple and takes the colour well, am thinking. It’s very dark green. NB.There are other green shoes a foot at mo’.

Blow me they’ve done a few. That’s a winning strategy right there. Highly grained, an antique burnish, and fringe. Woah. So, so Corbett circa ‘87.

Loving this shit: Would have pounced on these guys below a few years ago. Afraid might be trifle long in the canine for them now. Shame.

Car Shoe have done their New Bond Street shop up all nice and smart now, see below. Okay, off to GQ- Shanghai Tadger lunch at Corinthia. Bobby Johnston is hostin’ it so don’t wanna be late. Don’t no whether do don Donegal or to break out the Orlebars…

Stubbs out.

Like the toe shape and the grain on the Corbett.

However, I have two issues with the driver.

    1. The bloody bows. Please God stop doing it, it looks stupid, not to mention being about five years old. Try something new.

    2. Put a proper sole on the buggers. If you’re not actually driving in them exclusively (and even I must walk from the E-type to the front door of Le Sirenuse) the front of the toe gets horribly scruffed and wears through in about two months. And those silly little bobble things make your feet ache.

The best Car Shoe was the Prada collaboration a few years ago looked like space pumps. Am sure Tods did a Car Shoe collab too, maybe why they don’t look as good now?

Hey Stubbsy, saw this shoe post and was reminded of a previous discussion with you on our mutual obsession with Gucci snaffle loafers .. Ive seen a particular model I like in the Gucci store, I was wondering if you think it’s better to nab them quick now or wait till the sales in about a month? I’ve never been to a Gucci store during the sale so wondered if you knew if their shoe sales are good in terms of range etc? At full retail the price is quite rich ..

    Evening,
unless they’re a very odd pair no-one fancies, they’ll probably go
if you fancy them, and can justify them, swallow and purchase the snaffle…

thanks mate, thought id ask as theres nothing more annoying than going into a store and buying something at top whack right before a sale then seeing it at half the price a few weeks later ..

if all the good stuff gets snapped up before the sale i’ll buy up now ..

keep up the good work mate, rups
